Ian St John Gets Final Anfield Farewell

[ad_1]

Ian St John, the Liverpool legend, made one final farewell to the stadium that was home to all of those magical nights with the Saint leading the Reds back in the 1960s and 1970s. After a private funeral service, his coffin was driven outside of Anfield with a stop in front of the Shankly statue.

The late, great Bill Shankly brought St John to the club. The convoy stopped and a wreath for St John was laid by the statue. The note on the wreath read, “The Saint, our iconic former number 9. A great player and a great man From all of us at Liverpool Football Club. You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

The procession was attended by Kenny Dalglish and other Liverpool officials and family members who showed their respect to the man who devoted his best playing years to Liverpool.

The official site released a brief video of the convoy passing, which you can watch for free. The hearse was adorned in Liverpool red and white and filled with roses.

It was a somber and lowkey goodbye to a man who still lives on inside of the hearts of Liverpool fans.
