Aubameyang is understood to have been late for a pre-match meeting.
Back in 2018, Moyes dropped forward Michail Antonio for a game after he was late for a team meeting – despite West Ham missing nine players through injury and suspension.
The Scot has emphasised how it is important for players to stick to the rules and backed Arteta in his decision to drop Aubameyang.
“Where do you think he learnt that from?” said Moyes.
“In the industry we are in, this job is really tough. Nowadays it is hard enough for the managers.
“If you don’t work and go along with the things, then you’ll not be there. It doesn’t matter how good you are.
“It is like any business or anyone, people who work in their job, if you don’t do the right things, or if you don’t get your work in on time, or you don’t turn up on time, you will soon feel things coming down on you.
“So in the football club it is even more important, because we have to make sure we keep control of a lot of players with big egos, big personalities.
“He made the right decision Mikel, didn’t he, and always it will be the results which judge your decisions.
“Whether he had won or lost, it was the right decision.”
